Celebrating Sultan’s Success

By HGP Administrator

Congratulations Sultan!

Graduation season is always special, but this year we’re privileged to celebrate Sultan’s graduation at the University of Portsmouth, where she achieved First Class Honours in her Level 6 Architectural Assistant Degree Apprenticeship.

We first met Sultan at her interview, fresh out of college before making the bold decision to move from London and join HGP as our very first degree apprentice, helping us embrace a new way of developing future architects.

For those of us who have worked alongside and mentored Sultan, over the past 3 years we’ve watched her grow from taking her first steps in practice into a confident and valued member of our team. Successfully balancing the demands of university studies alongside the realities of working in practice, she’s learned much more than design; from collaborating with colleagues, presenting at design reviews, to communicating ideas and taking ownership of project work with increasing confidence and responsibility.

Sultan now heads into her Level 7 apprenticeship, enroute to become a qualified Architect. At a time when funding has been withdrawn for many Level 7 apprenticeships, success stories like Sultan’s highlight why these initiatives deserve continued support. Degree apprenticeships offer a flexible alternative route into architecture, opening opportunities for passionate designers to have real-world experience from day one with an accredited university education, while enabling practices to invest in the architects of tomorrow.

We have a close relationship with the University of Portsmouth and are proud to support different pathways into the profession. As architecture continues to evolve, we believe initiatives like degree apprenticeships are essential in widening access and nurturing talent in the next generation of architects.

Congratulations once again, Sultan from everyone at HGP! We’re excited to see what lies ahead for you and look forward to supporting you on the next stage of your journey.
