The South Molton site sits within an established residential area to the town and is the final parcel to a wider master plan within the area. The proposal caters for 34 homes consisting of 1 and 2 bedroom Retirement Living apartments, with a south facing landscaped garden and associated parking.
The building takes an L-Shaped form, addressing the street and pedestrian links and returning into the site, guiding pedestrians and vehicles to the secure parking court to the rear. The entrance experience is through the landscaped gardens with a secondary entrance as a knuckle to the ‘L’ and site entrance.
A series of bays provide rhythm to the street with the building edge set back to allow for private amenity in the form of balconies, fixed back to the gables. A material palette of red brick and render tie the proposal into the context.
